Gilmore signs Letter of Intent

Riley Gilmore took home the individual title in the 2-mile run at the 2014 Merrimack Valley Conference Championship on Friday.

The senior won by almost 10 seconds, finishing in 11:25.63. Gilmore signed a National Letter of Intent this week to continue her running career at the University of New Hampshire next year.

Sliney second in high jump

Mikaela Sliney placed second in the high jump , while Samantha Wise (1,000 meter) and Yonnie Collins (55 meter) each had fifth-place finishes.

Cameron Simes was the top finisher on the boys side, placing 10th in the 1,000-meter run.

Wrestlers 4-0 at meet

The wrestling team went 4-0 on Saturday at the Hillie dual meet.

The Hillies defeated Acton-Boxboro, Everett, Leominster and Chicopee to improve to 18-6 on the season. Haverhill will send several wrestlers to the MIAA Division 1 North Sectionals on Saturday at Chelmsford High School.

Clough top finisher

Sam Clough was the top finisher for the Hillie swimming and diving team at the 2014 MIAA Division 1 North Sectionals on Sunday.

The senior placed fifth in the 1-meter dive. Matthew Amedeo placed eighth in the 500-yard freestyle and Sean Driscoll was 12th in the 200-yard IM.

Girls hockey team prepares for final game

The girls hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Methuen-Tewksbury on Saturday afternoon to drop to 2-6-4 in their inaugural season.

They will host Lincoln-Sudbury on Monday at 2 p.m. for their final home game of the year. The boys squad is 5-7-2 with seven games remaining. They will be at Methuen on Saturday for a noontime game.

Basketball teams to play final home games

The girls basketball team scored a season-high 46 points, but fell to Lawrence on Friday night.

The boys basketball team led North Andover 47-45 after three quarters on Friday night, but ended up losing 66-52. Both teams will play their final home games of the 2013-2014 season on Thursday with a rare varsity doubleheader. The girls team will take on Everett at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys game against Tewksbury at 7 p.m.
