---- — As the playoffs approach, stars are emerging in the Boys & Girls Club basketball and floor hockey leagues.

Here’s a look at the latest results and the top players in each game:

JV League Floor Hockey, Game 8

Align Credit Union remained undefeated with a 1-0 win over Sparky’s Wings & Things.

Jared Libby scored the only goal of the game for Align at the start of the first period. Sparky’s tried hard to tie the game, but the goaltending of Abdiel Torres for Align ensured that didn’t happen.

The 99 Restaurant & Pub finally put an end to its losing streak with 4-2 victory over JNR Gutters.

Jake Freitas scored the first goal of the game for JNR Gutters in the first period to give them a 1-0 lead. In the second period, Jakob Ruperto scored two goals to give the 99 Restaurant the lead. Early in the third period, Bryan Carter scored a goal to tie the game for JNR Gutters, but soon after Jakob Ruperto scored two goals to secure the first victory of the season for the 99 Restaurant & Pub.

Major League Floor Hockey, Game 9

Pistone Containers squeezed by Dempsey Insurance 4-3.

Vinicio Carranza scored the first goal of the game for Pistone Containers, while Dempsey Insurance failed to score in the first period. In the second period, Shelby Eason and Ryan Wentworth each scored a goal for Dempsey Insurance for a 2-1 lead at the end of the period. In the third period, McKayla Dingle scored a goal to tie the game for Pistone Containers, and moments later Yonga Zagarella added two more goals for Pistone Containers. Enrique Alvarado scored a goal for Dempsey Insurance, but it was too late to avoid the loss.

Twomey & Legare Contracting topped Messinger Chiropractic 5-1.

Franklin Libby scored three goals in the first period for Twomey & Legare. Messinger Chiropractic failed to score in the first and second periods, but in the third period Angelo Santos managed to score the first goal for Messinger Chiropractic. Soon after, Evan Foskett scored two goals to secure the win for Twomey & Legare.

Malcolm Insurance shut out American Resource Staffing 4-0.

Both teams failed to score in the first period, but in the second period Jayden Arias scored a goal for Malcolm Insurance with 2.9 seconds left. At the end of the third period, Malcolm Insurance was on fire, as Leo Lopez scored a goal and Jason McKeon scored twice just seconds later to secure the victory.

Major League Basketball was postponed due to snow.

Minor League Floor Hockey, Game 9

Rice & Brouillard Electric triumphed over Align Credit Union 4-0.

Both teams failed to score in the first period, but things changed in the second period when Tyler Rice scored three goals for Rice & Brouillard, giving them a 3-0 lead. Align Credit Union struggled to score a goal, but never stopped playing hard. Victor Portorreal scored the final goal of the game for Rice & Brouillard to secure the win.

Fantini Bakery took the victory over Restaurant Restoration Service 2-0.

Neondre Abrue scored the first goal of the game for Fantini in the first period and had another goal at the start of the second period. Restaurant Restoration failed to score a goal due to the strong goaltending of Billie Deveau.

Arty’s Roast Beef remained undefeated with a 2-1 victory over Blase Distefano.

Both teams failed to score in the first period. In the second period, Jayden Arias scored to give Malcolm Insurance a 1-0 lead. In the third period, Calvin Pruett scored a big goal to tie the game for Blase Distefano, but five seconds later Ryan Wentworth scored a goal to take back the lead for Arty’s Roast Beef. Blase Distefano tried to tie the game, but Zack Novack stopped every shot he faced.

Minor League Basketball, Game 10

Fourth-place team VIP Cuts edged out fifth-place Shoe City Hardware 32-30.

Jason McKeon scored a team-high 14 points for Shoe City and showed great ball movement. Denzel Gonzalez had nine points for Shoe City. Evan Carisle scored a game-high 17 points for VIP Cuts. In the fourth quarter the game was tied at 30, but Nazair Dabreo scored the game-winning layup for VIP Cuts with eight seconds left. The teams will play again in the first round of the playoffs on March 1 at 12:15 p.m.

First-place Mediterranean Pizza beat third-place Jaqueline’s Grocery Store 39-33.

Phillip Cunningham scored a game-high 14 points, followed by Brendan Donald who had nine points for Mediterranean. Yonga Zagarella scored a team-high 12 points for Jaqueline’s. Mediterranean Pizza will have a bye in the playoffs because of its first-place finish.

Sixth-place Early Contractors suffered its 10th consecutive loss against second-place Half Staff 39-32.

McKayla Dingle scored a season-high 22 points for Half Staff with the help of the passing of Enrique Alvarado. Joshua Gariepy scored a team-high 20 points for Early Contractors. Half Staff will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Early Contractors will play Jaqueline’s Grocery Store on March 1 at 11:15 a.m.
