Hillie Huddle

The Haverhill Cheerleading Team capped a great competition season with a final performance at the 2012 MSSAA State Cheer & Dance Competition. The Hillies opened up the competition for Division 1 in front of a packed crowd at Lowell High School on March 11. The squad posted a season-best score, finished eighth in Division 1 and 17th overall out of the top 57 teams in the state.

Congratulations to Connor Tufts. The Haverhill senior has committed to play football at Division III Framingham State.

Many thanks to all who attended the fourth annual Haverhill High School Comedy Night at DiBurro's function hall on March 9. It was a great event with four hilarious comedians keeping the friends and supporters of Hillie sports laughing throughout the night. I would especially like to thank our sponsors — Alpha Aesar, state Rep. Brian Dempsey, state Sen. Steven Baddour and Pro Connections, Inc. — as well as the individual booster clubs, which sold tickets, provided baskets and attended the event.

Spring sports practices started on Monday with hundreds of student-athletes taking to the courts, fields and tracks. They will be working hard over the coming weeks to prepare for the 2012 seasons. The first official competition will be held on April 2 when the Hillie tennis teams both face Andover. For complete sports schedules and information on Haverhill Athletics, please visit hillies.org.
