Hillie girls soccer team makes history, beats Andover

---- — It was a tremendous victory last Tuesday at Haverhill High School and one that will certainly be remembered by the entire Haverhill soccer community.

The Hillie girls soccer team defeated Andover 3-1, marking the first win over the Warriors in the history of the Hillies program. Andover had previously dominated Haverhill High, going 14-0-1 in the last 15 meetings. This historic win comes during a historic season for the Hillies. They are 5-1-4 and sit atop the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 2 standings.

Girls volleyball in hunt for another season title

The girls volleyball team is also in the midst of a fabulous season.

The Hillies have won five straight to improve to 9-2. They have clinched a playoff berth and are in great position to win back-to-back MVC regular season titles. The next home match for the Hillies will be on Oct. 16 when they host Central Catholic.

Football team tops Methuen, preparesfor Dracut

The football team put itself in good position to qualify for the playoffs.

The Hillies had a huge 17-0 win over Methuen on Friday night, handing the Rangers their first loss of the season. Haverhill is unbeaten in league play heading into an important home game against Dracut this weekend.

Field hockey/soccer teams have busy schedules ahead

The field hockey and boys soccer teams will look to get back in the win column with busy schedules coming up.

The field hockey team plays six games in the next 10 days, including a home tilt against Dracut on Oct. 18. The two teams played to a 1-1 tie in their first meeting. The boys soccer team will be at Lowell on Thursday, before returning home for two games next week against Central Catholic (Oct. 15) and Andover (Oct. 17).

Cross country teams take to the road

The girls cross country team split a pair of meets at Winnekenni Park on Wednesday, edging North Andover and losing to Lowell.

The boys team dropped both meets against the same opponents. The squads will be on the road on Oct. 16 to face Chelmsford and Lawrence.

Girls swim team 5-2 with four meets to go

After dropping its first two meets of the year, the girls swim team got back on track with a 103-78 victory over North Andover on Friday afternoon.

The team is now 5-2 with four meets remaining. The Hillies will host Methuen on Friday at the Charles C. White Pool.

Golf team improves to 7-4, prepares for championship rounds

The golf team will wrap up the regular season on Thursday, when it hosts Chelmsford at the Bradford Country Club.

The Hillies have won four of their last five to improve to 7-4. After the Chelmsford match, they will compete in the MVC Championship at Vesper Country Club on Oct. 17.
