---- — The Haverhill track program will host the 37th annual John Ottaviani Invitational this Saturday, April 19. For the third straight year, this will be a co-ed event. Over 30 of the top track programs from Massachusetts and New Hampshire will travel to Haverhill High’s track. Field events are slated to start at 9:30 a.m. followed by running events at 11 a.m.
Hillie softball team gets first win of the season
The Haverhill softball team grabbed its first win of the season on Friday afternoon. The Hillies pounded Lawrence 6-0 to improve to 1-2. They will be at Tewksbury on Thursday and home against Billerica on Tuesday.
Lacrosse teams looking to bounce back from losses
The girls lacrosse team was edged by Pentucket 10-8 on Saturday afternoon. The squad will host Newburyport at 10 a.m. on Friday. The boys team also lost to Pentucket on Saturday. The Hillies will travel to Bishop Fenwick on Tuesday before returning home to take on Central Catholic on Thursday, April 24.
Boys volleyball team wins four straight then stumbles
The boys volleyball team jumped out to an impressive 4-0 start to the year with victories over Somerville, Methuen, Billerica and Lowell. They then fell to league power Lawrence on Friday night. The Hillies will be at Central Catholic on Tuesday night.
Tennis teams just warming up
The boys tennis team picked up its second straight win with a 3-2 road victory over Methuen last week. They were then defeated by Lawrence 3-2. The next home match for the team will be on April 30 against North Andover. The girls tennis team is off to a 1-2 start to the year and will host Central Catholic on Thursday afternoon.
Hillie ball players to host Lawrence on Thursday
The baseball team won its first game of the season on Friday afternoon, defeating Tewksbury 8-1. The Hillies will host Lawrence on Thursday afternoon and St. John’s Prep on Monday morning.
Softball team takes to the road
The softball team is on the road on Friday traveling to Lawrence and Monday traveling to Dracut. They return home on Tuesday afternoon to host Pentucket.
Track teams host first dual meet against Andover
The boys and girls track teams will host their first dual meet of the season on Wednesday against Andover.
