Duchesne scores 1,000 point for Endicott
Endicott College senior guard Nicole Duchesne, a graduate of Central Catholic from Plaistow, NH who attended Sacred Hearts School as a child, scored her 1,000th point on Nov. 23 as her team defeated UMaine Fort Kent, 76-55. She achieved the same 1,000-point feat at Central Catholic.
Olympian to teach at Bettencourt clinic
DB's Baseball & Softball Instructional Academy will offer "Instruction from Pros" with University of Massachusetts Amherst assistant coach, two-time All-American and Olympian Jessica Merchant.
Merchant hosts fielding and hitting softball clinics on Dec. 7, 14, and 20 with sessions beginning at 12:30 and 1:30 each day. The cost is $40 per visit or $100 for all three sessions. Limit to 12 players per session.

Register for the 2009 Bay State Winter Games
Registration is open for the 2009 Bay State Winter Games, as the annual Olympic-style amateur sporting event celebrates its 24th year. From Friday, Feb. 6, to Sunday, Feb. 8, individual competitions in Alpine skiing and figure skating, and team competition in masters ice hockey will take place. Athletes participating in the Winter Games represent more than 200 Massachusetts communities and range in age from 8 to over 60. Cedardale brings speed school to Haverhill
Parisi Speed School training methods focus on empowering athletes to improve their athletic performance by targeting speed, strength, flexibility, endurance, agility and self-confidence.
Group training sessions will be offered weekday afternoons and evenings as well as Saturday mornings. Special sessions can be arranged for team training at Cedardale or at your team's facility.
All instructors are trained and certified in Parisi Speed School training methods.

Haverhill YMCA opens registration
Registration is going on for YMCA programs, including swim lessons, gymnastics, adventure classes, the basketball league and more.
Adventure Club at Nettle

After-school program
The Haverhill YMCA's after-school program, a fun, safe, licensed after-school session, offers transportation from all schools in Haverhill to the YMCA where a nutritious snack is served, homework assistance provided, themed curriculum including swimming, gymnastics, rock climbing, gym games, art activities, foosball and air hockey, family events, clubs such as photography, and special projects that positively affect the community. Programming is also provided for teachers' workshops and holidays, and snow days. The program is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care, which ensures high quality standards are met. Limited spots available; flexible schedule (you can choose 2 to 5 days of care). All participants receive a free YMCA youth membership to use the facility at any time.

Playoff decides 14-15 age group in city's Junior Golf tourney

Boat race grows in popularity
Hydroplane and Runabout racing boats will skim the surface of the Merrimack River this weekend for the Haverhill River Run.

Organizer Dave Goodwin, chairman of the Crescent Yacht Club's race committee, said interest in the speedboat races has grown since last year's return of the event to the Merrimack River for the first time in roughly 40 years. -

The Haverhill Junior City Golf Championship will be played on Monday, Aug. 30, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Bradford Country Club, 201 Chadwick Road, Bradford.
