Little League sign-ups at library
Haverhill Little League Baseball will be having walk-in registrations for the 2009 season on Jan. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Haverhill Public Library. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 as of April 30 are eligible to participate in Haverhill's only official Little League baseball program. Senior baseball registrations
Haverhill Senior Baseball will register players for the 2009 spring and summer season on Jan. 10 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Haverhill Public Library. The spring season has divisions for 13-year-olds (regulation field with 90-foot base paths) and 14- to 16-year-olds and runs from mid-April to the end of May. The summer season runs from early June into August and has a 13-year-old and two 14- to 15-year-old divisions. Applications for those interested in coaching are also available. Jaffarian Volvo football team reunion
The Jaffarian Volvo football team reunion will be Jan. 9 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the AMVETS hall at 576 Primrose St. Players and coaches of the Jaffarian teams are invited. The reunion will include a dinner. Tickets are $30. For more information, call Mike Seaman at 978-314-5656.
Special Olympics Winter Games

Minor league football teams wanted
The Eastern Football League, a minor league football organization, is seeking business- or football-minded individuals to start up, form or organize a team in the Haverhill area. The EFL would like to see an expansion team in Haverhill to begin play in 2009. Seriously interested individuals only are asked to respond.
The EFL is entering its 49th season of play in 2009. The EFL is a AAA-level football league with a new single-A division of small market teams. It is a low-cost, full-contact football for adults 18 and over. AAA teams have a maximum roster of 60 players and A teams have a maximum roster of 30 players. Games begin in July for AAA and August for A. There are discounts on football equipment, although players provide their own. The EFL is seeking expansion teams and teams not happy in their current leagues.

Register for 2009 Bay State Winter Games
Registration is open for the 2009 Bay State Winter Games, as the annual Olympic-style amateur sporting event celebrates its 24th year. From Friday, Feb. 6, to Sunday, Feb. 8, individual competitions in Alpine skiing and figure skating, and team competition in masters ice hockey will take place. Athletes participating in the Winter Games represent more than 200 Massachusetts communities and range in age from 8 to over 60. Adventure Club at Nettle

After-school program
The Haverhill YMCA's after-school program, a fun, safe, licensed after-school session, offers transportation from all schools in Haverhill to the YMCA where a nutritious snack is served, homework assistance provided, themed curriculum including swimming, gymnastics, rock climbing, gym games, art activities, foosball and air hockey, family events, clubs such as photography, and special projects that positively affect the community. Programming is also provided for teachers' workshops and holidays, and snow days. The program is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care, which ensures high quality standards are met. Limited spots available; flexible schedule (you can choose 2 to 5 days of care). All participants receive a free YMCA youth membership to use the facility at any time.
