Another season is upon us already and the student-athletes and coaches at Haverhill High have been working hard over the past three weeks to prepare.
The winter sports season officially begins this week with just over 300 Hillies taking to the courts, pools, ice and tracks.
The boys and girls indoor track teams opened up on Wednesday against Lowell. They will be in action again on Tuesday when they head to Andover to take on Central Catholic. The boys swim team started its season on the road against Central Catholic on Wednesday. They will host Burlington High School at the Charles C. White Pool on Tuesday afternoon.
The hockey team will play at home Saturday night when it hosts Tewksbury at 7 p.m. The wrestling team will travel to the Wilmington tournament on Saturday, and then will host Methuen on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Both Hillie basketball teams will be in action on Friday night against North Andover. The boys will be at home for a 7 p.m. start and the girls will be on the road. Both teams will then face Central Catholic on Tuesday, with the girls playing at home and boys on the road.
As we prepare for the winter, post-season accolades from the successful fall seasons continue to roll in. Some notable awards that were recently announced include:
Tim O’Connor – Boston Globe Football Coach of the Year
Chance Brady – Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic, football
Sarah Broderick – Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic, swimming
