Junior Golf Championship decided Monday

The Haverhill Junior City Golf Championship will be played on Monday, Aug. 30, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Bradford Country Club, 201 Chadwick Road, Bradford.

It is open only to Haverhill residents or junior members at Bradford Country Club, Crystal Spring Golf Course, Far Corner Golf Course, Renaissance Golf Course or Haverhill Country Club.

Golfers ages 11 through 17 welcome.

Ages 11 through 13 will play nine holes; 14 through 17 will play 18 holes.

Nine holes, divisions for ages 11 through 13, 18 hole divisions ages 14 through 17.

Prizes will be awarded and lunch is included in registration fee.

Bradford 5K benefits Huskies track team

The Bradford elementary 5K road race will be run on Sunday, Sept. 26, starting at the Bradford Common and ending at Route 125 in Haverhill.

The event, which will run from 12:30 to 4 p.m., will feature live music, raffles, food, age-group awards and prizes, family entertainment and a T-shirt to the first 250 registrants.

A 5K race, fun run and fitness walk are planned so that athletes of all ages, fitness levels and abilities can participate.

All proceeds benefit the Bradford Huskies Cross Country and Track and Field program and Bradford Elementary School.

Riverside-Bradford fall league registers players

The Riverside-Bradford baseball league will host a walk-in registration for its fall league on Sunday, Aug. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the RB1 field at Riverside Park — Lincoln Avenue. Mail-in registration is also available at rbbaseball.org.

The league is also accepting nominations for memberships to the 2011 board of directors. Those interested should contact Colin LePage at clepage@rbbaseball.org.

Flag football league starts soon

The New England Warriors will be running their youth NFL flag football league again this fall. The league will begin in September and games will be played Sunday mornings between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill. Senior baseball signups begin

Haverhill Senior Baseball is accepting registrations for its fall baseball program. HSB will be entering teams in the fall league run by Play Ball of Salem, N.H. The season runs for six weeks commencing Sept. 11-12. There will be a division for players who have just graduated from Little League and will be playing on the regulation diamond for the first time. There also will be a middle school division as well a high school division. Swim lessons offered at Salem Boys & Girls Club

Registration is open for the fall session of swim lessons at the Salem Boys & Girls Club. The fall session will begin on Sept. 7, and run until Oct. 30. The Boys & Girls Club swim lesson program offers classes for children ages 3 and up, from beginner levels to advanced swimmer and pre-competitive levels.

Classes meet once a week, for 45 minutes, for eight weeks. The cost is $65 per child.

Nonmembers ages 6 and up are required to purchase a membership at the cost of $30 per year.
