The boys lacrosse team grabbed its first league win of the season on Monday with a thrilling 6-5 overtime win over Methuen.
The squad will return home to host Dracut on May 12.
The girls lacrosse team reeled off back-to-back Merrimack Valley Conference victories last week. The Hillies outscored Methuen 16-12 and then poured in a season-high 19 goals in a win over Dracut. The Hillies will look to avenge a 13-12 overtime loss to Lowell when they host the Raiders on Thursday afternoon.
Boys volleyball team back to winning
The boys volleyball team got back on the winning track last week with a pair of 3-0 MVC victories.
The Hillies downed Billerica on Wednesday and took down Lowell in straight games on Friday to improve to 7-4. The Hillies host rival Methuen on Thursday night.
Gilmore top Hillie finisher at Twilight Invitational
The Hillie track teams traveled to Weston over the weekend for the annual Twilight Invitational, featuring the top teams in the state.
Riley Gilmore was the top Haverhill High finisher, placing third in a field of 38 runners in the 2-mile run. Other top 10 finishers included Samantha Wise (6th, 800 meter), Gage Alicea (9th, high jump), Chedozie Onukwa (8th, triple jump), and Jorge Gomez-Garcia (7th, javelin). Both teams will compete in the Andover Invitational on Saturday.
Boys tennis team improves to 5-3
The boys tennis team downed Chelmsford 5-0 on Friday afternoon to improve to 5-3.
The Hillies take on Amesbury on Thursday afternoon and then have a big home match with league rival Lawrence on Monday. Lawrence edged the Hillies 3-2 in their first meeting.
The girls tennis team came out on losing end of 3-2 match against Tewksbury on Friday. The Hillies will also face Amesbury on Thursday then will play home against Andover on Wednesday.
Softball team prepares for away games
The softball team has had several close games, as six of their last seven matches have been decided by two or fewer runs.
