Hillie track team shines at Andover Booster Meet

---- — Boys volleyball team needs one more win to qualify for MIAA tourney

The Hillie boys volleyball team downed Methuen 3-0 on Thursday night to improve to 8-6. They need just one win in their last four matches to qualify for the MIAA tournament. The Hillies will travel to Lexington on Friday then close out the regular season vs. Andover on Monday.

Boys/girls tennis teams ready for final regular season games

The boys tennis team is in a similar situation and needs two wins in its last four matches to play in the tournament. The Hillies split a pair of matches last week, falling to Methuen 3-2 before defeating Amesbury 5-0. They close out the regular season at home on May 19 against Lowell. The girls tennis team has been coming up just short, losing three straight matches by a score of 3-2. The Hillies play their final match at home on May 21 against North Andover.

Girls lacrosse players take four of six

The girls lacrosse team has also put itself in a position to qualify for post-season play. The Hillies have won four of their last six games, including a 15-10 win over Lowell and a 21-10 win over Tewksbury last week. Haverhill finishes the regular season schedule at home against Shawsheen on Thursday night.

Hillie track team shines at Andover Booster Meet

The Hillie track teams participated in the Andover Booster Meet on Saturday. Kerrin Thomas had a breakout performance in the 200 meter dash with a fourth place finish while Grace Stanton placed sixth in that event. Riley Gilmore took third in the one mile run and Rakel Tativian took fifth in the shot put. On the boys’ side, Chedozie Onukwa placed second in the triple jump and Gage Alicea was third in the high jump for the Hillies.

Softball team prepares to host two at home

The softball team had a big 6-4 victory over Andover last Wednesday for its second league win of the year. The Hillies will host North Andover on Sunday at 4 p.m. and Presentation of Mary on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Hillie baseball team set to finish regular season

The baseball team closes out its regular season with a pair of home games next week. The Hillies host St. Mary’s on Tuesday and Whittier on Thursday.

Health Fair is May 19, community is invited

The 2014 Haverhill Public Schools Health Fair will be held on Monday, May 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Haverhill High School, 137 Monument St. Multiple exhibitors will be offering information on health and community resources. There will be a variety demonstrations and interactive activities for both students and adults and the new state-of-the-art Fitness Center will also be open for use. The event is sponsored by the Haverhill Health & Physical Education staff and the HPS Wellness Committee. This event is free and open to the community.
