Two teams are playoff bound

Two teams are in.

The boys tennis and boys volleyball teams have qualified for the upcoming MIAA post-season tournaments and the girls lacrosse team may join them.

The boys tennis team won four of its last five league matches to guarantee at least a runner-up finish in the Merrimack Valley Conference. The squad defeated Chelmsford, Lawrence, Lowell and Billerica to qualify for the MIAA tournament.

The boys volleyball team also had a strong finish to the regular season. The Hillies won four of their last five matches to build momentum heading into the playoffs. The Hillies took down Central Catholic 3-2 on May 14 then downed Andover 3-1 on May 19.

Girls lacrosse players in hunt for MVC title

Victories over Lowell and Dracut put the Hillie girls lacrosse team in a position to claim back-to-back MVC titles.

The Hillies needed a win against Tewksbury on May 21 to finish as co-MVC champions. The boys lacrosse team pulled out a thrilling victory in its final home game last Wednesday, defeating Methuen 8-7 in overtime.

Softball team finishes strong season

The softball team recently won three of four games.

The Hillies defeated Andover, North Andover and Lawrence and now have five wins on the year. They finish up the season at Manchester Essex on Friday.

Baseball team closes regular season

The Hillie baseball team was leading MVC-first place teams Dracut and Billerica in games last week, but fell 2-1 and 3-1 respectively.

The Hillies close out the season at home against Whittier Regional High on Thursday afternoon.

Track teams prepare for MVC Championship Meet

The girls track team posted fourth-place finishes in both the distance medley and high jump at the MSTCA Division 1 State Relays on Monday afternoon.

The boys team also had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 4 x 800 relay and shot put. The teams will participate in the MVC Championship Meet this Saturday.
