These kids are getting in the best shape of their young lives.
In the Boys & Girls Club’s 10-week youth fitness program, from week to week kids try to improve their scores on jumping rope, doing push-ups and sit-ups, and running.
Money from the American Beverage Association pays for staffing, guest speakers, sports equipment and T-shirts, as well as reporting results to the state. The program also has a focus on healthy eating.
Once a week, the kids participate in a Fitness Challenge where they have to negotiate four different exercise stations. They try to improve their scores each week.
