Haverhill sotfball registration begins Saturday at library
Registration for Haverhill Girls Softball will be held on Saturdays, Feb. 20 and Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the public library, 99 Main St.
The Haverhill Girls Softball League is dedicated to teaching good sportsmanship and the fundamentals of softball while building a positive self-image for girls ages 5 to 18. Registration forms are available online at www.haverhillgirlssoftball.net.
Senior baseball registration to open on Feb. 27 at library
Haverhill Senior Baseball will have registrations for the spring and summer 2010 season on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Haverhill Public Library. The spring season has divisions for 13-year-olds and 14 through 16 year-olds. The summer season runs from early June into August and has a 13 year-old division and two 14 through 16 year-old divisions. Applications for those interested are also available. AAU Basketball tryouts
Visionary Basketball Club, www.visionarybasketball.com, will hold tryouts for its Spring Travel/AAU program for boys and girls ages 9U through 14U. There is a $20 registration fee for new and returning players. The program is geared for players of all levels: advanced through developmental. All girls and boys who register will be placed on an appropriate skill level team for the spring season; either a local, regional, or national level team. Parents are encouraged to pre-register for tryouts on the website. Players should bring a ball and water to the tryouts.
Tryouts will be Feb. 20 at the Beverly Sterling YMCA in Beverly from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for boys and girls U9 through U11 and from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for boys and girls U12 through U14; and on Feb. 21 at Latitudes in Peabody from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for boys and girls U9 through U14.
High School players, ages 15U through 17U, should register for the Spring Travel/AAU program on the Web site and will be contacted directly by the coaching staff to arrange a workout to take place after the high school season ends at the end of February.

Super Bowl champ Troy Brown to speak at scholarship dinner
Three-time Super Bowl winner Troy Brown will speak at the 10th annual Center for Marketing Research Celebrity Scholarship Dinner on March 30 at the Venus de Milo in Swansea.
A VIP reception will begin at 5 p.m. with free hors d'oeuvres and an open bar. During the reception, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and talk to Brown and get his autograph. Tickets for the reception are available for $75 each.
Tickets are also available for the scholarship dinner at 6 p.m. at which Brown will discuss his career and experiences and sign posters at the end of the evening. These tickets are $75 each and include a full course dinner and the speaking program with Troy Brown.
At both the VIP reception and the dinner, glossy keepsake photographs of Brown will be available for purchase to be autographed.

Haverhill High golf tournament planned at Renaissance GC
The Haverhill High School Athletic Department will host the First Annual Haverhill High School Athletics Golf Tournament at the Renaissance Golf Club on Monday, May 24. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the tournament tee off at 11 a.m.
Dinner and awards will follow. The event will raise funds for HHS boys and girls sports programs which include over 50 varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams. The cost is $175 per player which includes a box lunch, cart, greens fees and dinner.
Additional guests may join us for dinner at a cost of $35 per person. The Haverhill High Athletic Department is currently seeking tournament sponsors and auction items.

Swimming at HHS pool
The Haverhill High School pool offers family swim time on Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $3 per person. Two lanes will be open for lap swim. Swim lessons for children ages 3 and older will be held on six Saturdays from 9 to 9:45 a.m., and from 10 to 10:45 a.m., beginning Jan. 23. Cost is $65 per swimmer. Adult lap swim is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30 to 6:45 a.m. For more information, call the high school athletics office at 978-374-5732.
Haverhill High School's pool will be open for diving lessons for ages 8 and up on Sundays from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $5 per hour.

Musicians sought for basketball games at Haverhill High
If you are an alumni of Haverhill High School and you play a band instrument, Athletics Director Garin Veris wants to talk to you.
