The Haverhill boys hockey team has been on a roll, winning four of its last five games. The Hillies pounded Newton South, 7-1, last week, then edged North Andover, 2-1. Senior Tommy Maguire scored six of the team’s nine goals over those two games. The Hillies climbed above the .500 mark for the first time, with a season record of 4-3-1.
Girls hockey team posts big win
The girls hockey team also had a big win last week. The Hillies defeated Central Catholic, 5-1. Both teams will be in action this Saturday, with the boys hosting Boston Latin and the girls traveling to Lincoln Sudbury.
Hillie wrestlers to host quad meet on Saturday
The wrestling team continued its strong season over the weekend at the competitive Chelmsford Tournament. The Hillies placed fifth out of 17 teams in the event. Reece Millington remained undefeated on the year and finished first. Orlando Rojas, Jordan Faulkner and Samie Al-Ziaball posted second-place finishes. Haverhill will host Billerica, Lawrence and Central Catholic in a quad meet this Saturday.
Boys swim team evens record; host Chelmsford on Friday
The boys swim team evened its record at 2-2 with a 92-73 victory over Burlington last Friday. The Hillies will host Chelmsford this Friday at the Charles C. White Pool.
Indoor track teams have individual winners
Both indoor track teams fell at Chelmsford on Monday, but there were several individual winners. Yonnie Collins (50-yard dash), Riley Gilmore (mile), Julia MacLaughlin (shot put), Andrew Ingersoll (hurdles and high jump) and Bryam Discua (300) each finished first. The Hillies will compete in the Division 1 Relays at the Reggie Lewis Center this Sunday.
Ski teams taking a break
The ski teams will have next week off. The boys team returns to action with races Jan. 28 vs. Manchester Essex/Andover and Jan. 30 vs. Masconomet. The girls will race Jan. 27 vs. Austin Prep/Masconomet and Jan. 29 vs. North Andover/Andover. All races are held at Ski Bradford.
