The Hillie boys swim and dive team picked up back-to-back victories last week, defeating Belmont 103-77 and Lowell 95-82. Haverhill High School will host the 2014 MVC Boys Swim and Dive Championship this Friday at the Charles C. White Pool. Central Catholic, Andover, North Andover, Lowell and Chelmsford will all compete in the event. Diving will start at 1 p.m. followed by the swim meet at 4:15 p.m.
Hillie wrestlers win two more, set to travel
The wrestling team continued its very successful season last week. The Hillies grabbed an MVC victory over Tewksbury by a score of 45-29. They then pulled out a thrilling 39-38 non-league win over Greater Lowell on Saturday. Haverhill will travel to Westford Academy on Friday and to Dracut on Wednesday.
Gilmore to compete in MSTCA Elite Meet
Several Hillies finished in the top 10 of their respective events at the 2014 MSTCA Coaches Invitational on Saturday. Samantha Wise (second in the 1,000), Kerrin Thomas (third in the 300), and Julia McLaughlin (eighth in Shot Put) led the way for Haverhill. Riley Gilmore was the lone Haverhill student-athlete to qualify and compete in the MSTCA Elite Meet on Sunday. The senior placed seventh in the 2-mile run.
Boys basketball team wins two out of three
After a slow start to the season, the boys basketball team has won two of its last three games. The Hillies downed Dracut on Friday night 72-66. They travel to Chelmsford on Thursday night then host Lowell on Friday night. The girls basketball team fell to Lowell Catholic 56-29 on Sunday afternoon. The Hillies will travel to Lowell on Friday night then return home on Tuesday to host North Andover.
Hockey teams prepare to travel
The boys and girls hockey teams had a quiet week last week, playing just one game each and both came out on the losing end. The girls team will travel to Concord Carlisle on Saturday and will be home on Wednesday against Wayland. The boys team travels to Lincoln Sudbury on Saturday and to Concord Carlisle on Wednesday.

Sixth annual Comedy Night planned
The sixth annual Haverhill High School Comedy Night will be held on Friday, March 7 at DiBurro’s. Four top professional comedians will perform and there is a tremendous list of raffle, silent and live auction items. All proceeds will benefit the HHS Athletic Program.
