The boys lacrosse program has qualified for post-season play. With a 12-1 win over Dracut on Thursday, the Hillies clinched a berth in the MIAA State Tournament. The team has won back-to-back games to improve to 9-4 on the season with five games remaining. The Hillies will play their final regular season home game Saturday at 10 a.m. against Pentucket. The girls lacrosse team kept its playoff hopes alive with a convincing 23-16 win over Dracut. The Hillie girls are 5-6 with four games remaining. Their final home game will be against Lowell on May 22 at 6:45 p.m.
The quest for a perfect season continued for the boys volleyball team last week. The Hillies picked up league wins over Billerica and Methuen to improve to 15-0 on the season. The No. 1 ranked team in the state, Haverhill will play its final regular season home match on Friday night when it hosts Central Catholic.
The girls tennis team downed Lowell 5-0 to improve to 7-2. The boys team record now stands at 5-6. The weather has backed up much of the schedule for both teams, making for a busy finish to the season. The boys team is schedule to play eight matches and the girls are slated to pay six over the last 10 days of the season.
Rain has also caused issues with the Hillie softball schedule, as the team has been able to play only two games in the past two weeks. The team finishes up 2012 with four games next week, including the last three at home against Lawrence, Presentation of Mary and Pentucket.
The Hillie baseball squad kept its playoff hopes alive with an important 7-5 win over Methuen last week. Haverhill is now 7-8 heading into its final five games of the season. The team travels to Tewksbury on Thursday and Dracut on Saturday, before returning home on Monday for its final home game of the season against Everett.
