Exciting weekend of post-season competition

Girls volleyball team compiles 18-4 record

The girls volleyball team completed one of the best seasons in program history.

The playoff run was highlighted by a 3-0 win over previously undefeated and No. 1 seed Peabody. After winning three playoff matches, the Hillies fell in the MIAA Division 1 North Finals. Haverhill finished the season with a 18-4 record.

Football team falls to Lincoln Sudbury, faces Reading Friday

The football team’s playoff run came to an end on Friday night.

The No. 1 seeded Hillies dropped a 27-6 decision to No. 4 Lincoln Sudbury. Haverhill is now 6-3 and will play two more non-league games to wrap up the season. They host Reading at home Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on Lowell on Thanksgiving Day.

Girls swim and dive team prepares for championship meet

The girls swimming and diving team had an impressive showing at the MIAA Division 1 North Sectionals at MIT on Saturday.

Sophomore Michaela Sliney won the 1-meter diving competition to lead the Hilies to a sixth-place finish overall. The team now moves on to the MIAA Division 1 State Championship meet on Sunday at Harvard University.

Cross country teams have strong showing

The cross country teams competed in the MIAA Eastern Massachusetts Championship Meet at the Wrentham Development Center on Saturday.

Riley Gilmore led the way, placing 19th in the field of 133 runners with a time of 19:30. Christian White was the top Hillie on the boys side with a 33rd place finish out of 167 runners. The girls team finished ninth and the boys finished 19th.

Cheerleading squad places sixth

The cheerleading squad competed in the MVC Championship on Sunday at Central Catholic High School.

The team placed sixth in its division with a score of 64.25.

Congratulations to all the Hillie student-athletes and coaches, who have worked so hard and represented our city so well over the past three months.
