One must be a club member — at a charge of $30 — to sign up, and the registration fee is $10.

The league will consist of students in grades nine through 12 throughout the area, and the 11-game season will be played on Thursday and Friday nights. The first game is on Oct. 8.

Jerseys, trophies and special awards are included.

Speedboat races travel

to Kingston for benefit

The Kingston Children's Center, a nonprofit founded in 1972 dedicated to providing early education and child care to kids between 6 weeks and 13 years of age, is joining the South Shore Outboard Association to host the Kingston Fall Classic, a series of hydroplane boat races on Greenwood Pond, at 12 Church St. in Kingston.

The races will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, and spectators can view the races from the Greenwood Pond shore while snacking on bagels, burgers, hot dogs and chips. The two-day event will also include a meet-and-greet with the drivers, photo opportunities and an autograph session.

The proceeds from the festivity will go directly to the children's center's effort to provide scholarships for children in need.
