Taste of Haverhill: A bit of this and a nibble of that
By Cara Spilsbury Staff Writer
With such a wide variety of restaurants in the Queen Slipper City, it would seemingly be hard to nail down exactly what the taste of Haverhill is.
But on Wednesday, June 25, the Haverhill Historical Society and the Buttonwoods Museum tried.
The second annual Taste of Haverhill event brought a smattering of the best appetizers, entrees and desserts that the city has to offer.
For $25 per ticket or $40 per couple, food enthusiasts from around the area could sample a little bit of everything from at least a dozen local eateries including Mark's Deli, Maria's Tea House, George's, Keons 105, The Tap, England's Microcreamery, Sparky's Wings, Dino's Pizza, Maria's Family Restaurant, Trattoria Al Forno, Emily's Bakery, Barrett's Speciality Foods and the Wicked Big Cafe. There was something for everyone: ice cream, pizza, baked goods, salads, sweets, pasta, and more.
Under a white canopy with the scenic Merrimack River in the background and the summer sun warming the region, guests got more than just a diverse meal. A silent auction was set up and the Mystics kept the crowd entertained. All the money raised from the event benefits the Buttonwoods Museum to help in its upkeep, maintenance and collections support. The Buttonwoods Museum Haverhill Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that is solely supported by admissions, memberships and special events throughout the year such as the Taste of Haverhill.
