City Spotlight, Feb. 16, 2012
Snow-Bound Weekend, a dramatic recreation of John Greenleaf Whittier’s famous poem, “Snow-Bound,” was held Saturday and Sunday at the poet’s Haverhill birthplace. The biennial recreation featured the Whittier family and friends, in full period dress and performing scenes from the famous poem. The cast included Augustine “Gus” Reusch Jr. as John Greenleaf Whittier and Patricia Feller as the narrator. The event included horse-drawn sleigh or wagon hayrides and period music and poetry in the shoe shop. Hot apple cider and doughnuts were served.

City Spotlight, Feb. 9, 2012
Haverhill Schools celebrate Catholic Schools Week. At St. Joseph, students took part in bowling, candy bingo and the academic bowl, all while wearing flannel pants with sports team T-shirts. Sacred Hearts School handed out more than 50 baskets of cookies and pastries baked by the school’s families to local organizations and charities on Feb. 2.
