The event was sponsored by the Haverhill Police Patrolmen's Union and raised money for its scholarship to a Haverhill High School graduate.

Register to vote: Feb. 15 is the last day one can register to vote or change party enrollment for the Presidential Primary election on March 6. The Haverhill City Clerk's office, located in City Hall at 4 Summer Street, will be open that day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to register voters. Anyone who is a citizen of the United States, a Massachusetts resident and over the age of 18 on or before election day is eligible to register. For the Whittier girls basketball team, that's all different. The Wildcats are leaning on four freshmen to be key cogs in the rotation, and the results have been superb.

Haverhill Schools celebrate Catholic Schools Week. At St. Joseph, students took part in bowling, candy bingo and the academic bowl, all while wearing flannel pants with sports team T-shirts. Sacred Hearts School handed out more than 50 baskets of cookies and pastries baked by the school’s families to local organizations and charities on Feb. 2.
