Army Pvt. David Perrault, son of Neil Perrault and Lori Myotte, graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat and field maneuvers and tactics. He is now in Mississippi for advanced individual training. Perrault graduated from Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School in 2005.



Emily Russo, daughter of Lenny and Margaret Russo, was named to the Berklee College of Music dean's list for the spring semester. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or better; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.



Jonathan Tynes, a special-needs English teacher at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School, was voted Educator of the Year by the Whittier Regional Education Association. Tynes, of Kingston, N.H., has been teaching at the school for six years. He was honored on June 15 with a plaque as well as a monetary award during ceremonies held at the school. The award has been presented annually for 23 years. Tynes is an accomplished musician and has been associated with the school's performing arts programs. During this year's commencement exercises, Tynes performed an original musical composition for which he received a standing ovation from the Class of 2007 and guests.



Army Pvt. Jason M. Walsh, son of John P. and Celia Walsh, graduated from the Parachute Rigger Course at the 262nd Quartermaster Battalion, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va. He was trained to inspect, pack, rig, recover, store and maintain airdrop equipment, which includes troop and cargo parachutes, platforms, cushioning materials and extraction-and-release systems.
