Last week’s photo shows Haverhill Fire Chief John B. Gordon, right, and a firefighter sitting in the chief's four-seat vehicle outside the Kenoza Avenue Fire station. Gordon was chief in 1890 and 1891, and from 1893 to 1923. We received correct responses from Kathy Sciacca, Milton Taylor and Walter Ziminski. We also received correct responses from Walter Ziminski, Milton Taylor and Joe Metelski to a previous Memories photo of testing of steam pumper fire engines along the Merrimack River in the early 1900s; and from Milton Taylor to a ferry shown crossing the Merrimack River before Haverhill had bridges.
Thanks to all who participated.
