The murals West Newbury artist Alan Pearsall is creating to beautify boarded windows in the alley leading to Riverfront Park will be the topic of discussion during Friday night’s Washington Street Historic District Commission meeting.

The Haverhill Cultural Council, Team Haverhill and Pearsall hope the murals will take Haverhill’s citizens and visitors back in time with scenes depicting the rich history of downtown taverns and shoe factories.

Pearsall was born in Boxford and attended Pratt Institute in New York City, before moving to Hollywood to design movie posters for the film industry. He soon moved back to New England to open his own art studio.

The meeting is at 8 a.m. in City Hall, Room 301. The public is welcome.
