If you've ever stood at the edge of First Landing Park and looked down at the river's edge, you may have seen the mess.
Debris of all kinds littered the banks of the Merrimack River. The same has long been the case in other spots along the edge of the waterway on both the Haverhill and Bradford sides.
But the Clean River Project has stepped in to remove much of the blight. Last week, Clean River leader Rocky Morrison and other members of his group descended on several spots to remove truckloads of debris.
First Landing Park marks the spot where English people arrived in 1640 to settle what is now Haverhill.
The Methuen-based Clean River Project is a private organization that cleans the river and its banks in Haverhill and other Merrimack Valley communities.
