Members of Soroptimist International of Haverhill/Merrimack Valley will meet at Mr. Mike's Restaurant, Route 125, 1149 Main Street, Haverhill, on Wednesday, March 16. Social hour is 5:30 to 6 p.m.; meeting time is 6 to 8 pm. New members are always welcome.

Public safety topic of Chamber breakfast
Public safety breakfast forum: Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce presents a public safety breakfast forum, "What you Need to Know for Your Business and Home," on Friday, Match 18 from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. at Michael's Function Halls, Alpha/River Street. Speakers include District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett, Essex County Sheriff Frank Cousins, Rep. Harold Naughton, Chairman Public Safety; Andover Police Chief Brian Pattullo, Haverhill Police Chief Allan DeNaro, Lawrence Police Chief John Romero, Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon and North Andover Police Chief Richard Stanley. St. Patrick's Day charity breakfast: The Exchange Club of Haverhill will host their annual St. Patrick's Day breakfast on Thursday, March 17 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at DiBurro's in Ward Hill. This event will benefit the child abuse prevention programs through the Exchange Club of Haverhill. Features the musical talent of The Square Riggers and other exciting Irish entertainment. Tickets are a $25 donation, $250 for tables of ten. All proceeds from this event will be directed to programming for the prevention of child abuse. There will be a meeting of the Asperger Syndrome Support Group on Monday, March 14, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, in the Higgins Conference Room of Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. A general discussion is planned. This support group addresses the concerns of parents of school-aged children diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, high-functioning autism, or related challenges. Meetings are free, open to the public, and serve families from all neighboring communities. The group is sponsored by the Asperger's Association of New England.
