The coronavirus crisis is affecting the annual summertime Farmers Market, but organizers have found a way to keep the market operating.
The market opened at the downtown Merrimack Street parking deck the last Saturday of June with restrictions due to the pandemic.
Fewer customers are allowed to shop at the same time, and fewer vendors are operating, although market organizers hope to expand the number as the season progresses. There is no lingering by customers as in past years when the market was a social venue as well as a place to shop.
The market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the sale of a variety of products made locally including vegetables, wines, soaps and pet food.
