The Relay for Life of Haverhill seeks residents from Haverhill and surrounding communities to serve as committee members, team captains and volunteers for the Friday, June 12, through Saturday, June 13, event.
A team captains meeting will be Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Pentucket Bank, 1 Merrimack St.
Relays are 12 to 24 hours in length and go overnight. Teams of eight to 15 people camp out at a local high school, park or fairground and take turns walking, jogging or running around a track or path. All funds raised will support the American Cancer Society's programs of research, education, advocacy and service.
Haverhill's Relay for Life has taken place at the Northern Essex Community College track for the last several years.
Relay for Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society. It mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones, and raise money for the fight against cancer.
