He likes what he hears

Locals are thanking Paul Prue for his work this summer in organizing Friday night concerts on Bradford Common.

Many people have come out for the events, setting up their lawn chairs and taking in variety of musical styles.

Speaking of local music ...

The Barrelhouse Brotherhood performed at Bradford Common a few weeks ago and drew quiite a crowd.

The Lamplighter knew every song they did, even the instrumental, "Apache."

The final concert in the summer series on Bradford Common is Aug. 16 and features the Julie Dougherty Band.

Big winnings

The Lamplighter recently ran into some longtime acquaintances who had just returned from a weekend of equine racing at Saratoga Raceway in New York.

Seems that many of them took home some favorable winnings on a 17-1 longshot named Mazz Mania.

One of Haverhill ‘s best kept secrets is jazz at The Tap on Sunday nights from 7:30 to 9:30.

Usually a 9- to 13-piece orchestra entertains visitors. And if the Red Sox are playing, the game is on in an adjacent room for die hard fans.

There's no cover charge,
