It was appropriately cold for Sunday’s 58th VFW Santa Parade, as the bearded-one himself made the trip down from the North Pole to participate. He brought the cold weather with him, but thousands of people dressed warmly to enjoy the annual tradition.

This year, the Best Overall Float award went to Covanta. It displayed a reindeer pulling a sleigh and a smoke stack with an ugly sweater decorated with a star, similar in looks to Covanta’s own smoke stack and illuminated star.

The Most Christmas Spirit award went to Sacred Hearts School in Bradford. The Most Original award went to the Bartlett School and Assessment Center, while Best Parade Theme float went to Nots Barber Shop. This year’s parade theme was Santa’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.

This year’s Santa Parade took place on a sunny, but chilly and very windy day. But it was so much nicer than the weather during the 2019 parade, which was a rainy, wind-swept and bone-chilling day. Many who attended that parade still talk about how bad the weather was that day.
