FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The wife of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has died.

The team said in a statement posted on its website that Myra Hiatt Kraft died Wednesday morning after a battle with cancer.

Myra Kraft played a significant role in the team's philanthropic efforts.

The statement said "we are all heartbroken" and added that the philanthropic community has "suffered a great loss."

The statement reads "Words cannot express the deep sorrow that we feel in learning of the passing of Myra Hiatt Kraft. Myra passed away early this morning after a courageous battle with cancer. We are all heartbroken. The global philanthropic community and the New England Patriots family have suffered a great loss."
