The Boys & Girls Club's basketball and floor hockey teams had some strong matchups recently, with players generating excitement on offense and defense.
Here are the results:
JV Floor Hockey
The first hockey game after the holidays was a great one, as these two teams played hard until the final buzzer.
Billy St. Amand of Dempsey Insurance got the first goal of the game and teammate Jacob Ruperto also scored a goal. Kobe Powell of Don Wilson & Sons answered back with two goals and his teammate Matt Walter also scored a goal in the final period to ice the game and the 3-2 victory for Don Wilson & Sons.
This game was close for the first two periods as these two teams went goal for goal.
Jake Freitas and Jason McKeon of JnR Gutters each scored a goal in the first period, while teammate Tyler Byram scored both of his goals in the second period. But Ian Miller and James Darwin of Align Credit Union both scored hat tricks. Franklin Libby and Tyler Daignealt added a goal each and Braden Dorr shut the door by scoring two more goals for Align, as they went on to win the game by six goals, 10-4.
Minor League Floor Hockey
George McComisky had the only goal for Align Credit Union.
Julius Urbaez of Blase Distefano had a hat trick, scoring a goal in the second period and two goals in the third. Teammate Nathon Scanlon scored a goal to keep the game out of reach. Blase Distefano went on to win the game, 4-1.
This was an awesome game that went into overtime.
Elie Bouraphael and Joziah “Cookie” Nogue each scored a goal for Lucky’s Pizza to tie the game at 2. But Kenny Owens of Maria's Restaurant scored all three goals for his team, including the game-winner in sudden death overtime to win the game 3-2.
This was a good one, with both teams playing hard.
Jesse Dichara of Messinger Chiropractic scored both goals for his team, but Andrew Pruett of Fantini Bakery scored a hat trick in the third period while teammate Timmy Eason contributed to a 4-2 win.
Major League Floor Hockey
It was a high-scoring game as Tyler Rice of Rice & Brouillard Electric scored all five goals for his team keeping the contest close.
But Evan Foskett of Big Belly Business scored four goals while Samantha Donahue added two goals and Abdiel Torre added one in the third period to help Big Belly Business win the game, 7-5.
Major League Floor Hockey
It was a low-scoring defensive game with Wyatt Dauphanais and Tommy Legare of Anthony and Malcolm Insurance scoring the only two goals to shut out Waterscapes of New England, 2-0.
All the players from both teams played their hearts out.
This game was well played and went into overtime.
Adriano Andrade of Don Wilson & Sons had two goals and teammate Will Halloran added one goal, but Damien Fry of Align Credit Union scored three goals plus one in the shootout while teammate Nickolas Barboza scored another goal in the shootout to give Align Credit Union the 5-3 victory.
Minor League Basketball
Brian Murray of JnR Gutters had 6 points while teammate Victor DeAza Jr. added 4 points and Angelo Santos scored 2, keeping JnR in the game toward the end.
But Early Contractors came back, as Tyler Rice led all scorers with 7 points and teammates Shelby Eason and Colleen Phiri each scored 4 points and Tommy Goodwin added 2 points. Early Contractors went on to win 17-12.
Lysander Nunez of Shoe City Hardware scored 18 points and teammate Kelvin Morales had 9 points.
But Abdiel Torre of Twomey & Legare scored a game-high 21 points to push his team ahead while teammates Billy Braffit had 6 points, Jayden Arias had 4 points and Julius Urbaez and Peter Byram each added 2 points. Twomey & Legare won this exciting game, 35-27.
Javien Sapienza of the 99 Restaurant & Pub had 6 points while teammates Michael Carlson and Michael Novotny each added 4 points.
Jeremy Nunez and Ralph Jean added 2 points each, but it wasn’t enough as Enrique Alvarado of Align Credit Union had 10 points while teammates Alex Goddell scored 8 points, Jeremiahs Montero and Sebastian Camacho each had added 2 points and Brian Wrenn added 4. Align Credit Union went on to win 26-16.
Major League Basketball
Both teams battled until the final buzzer.
Jordan Guillermo of JnR Gutters scored 17 points to lead his team, while his teammates Nazir Dabreo added 11 points, Yonga Zagarella added 6 points and Ricky Flores had 4. But Sam Powell of Ride-n-Luxury scored a game-high 19 points while teammates Woody Reese added 12 points, John McCarthy had 7 points, Josh Gariepy added 6 points and McKayla Dingle scored 2 . Ride-n-Luxury came away with a 45-38 victory.
This was another great game that went down to the final quarter.
Dante Cadeus of GNL Enterprises scored 20 points to lead his team, while teammates Giovanny Perez and Spencer Strouth each added 4 points and Josh Santoro and Gabe Cadeus scored 3 points each. But Dariel Dominguez of the 99 Restaurant & Pub scored a game-high 28 points while teammates Enrique Alvarado and Trese Gutierrez each added 4 points, Brian Morales scored 3 points, Matt Maginnis aded 2 points and Lysander Nunez added a point as the 99 Restaurant went on to win 44-34.
Pablo Vargas of Dempsey Insurance had a team-high 18 points, helped out by teammates Jason McKeon who had 12 points, Ryan Jimenez who added 8 points, and Allahborn Lenario, who added 6 points.
But Joshua Santacruz of Early Contractors had a game-high 37 points while teammates Brandon Donald and Ryan Whitcomb each added 5 points, Addiel Reyes added 3 points and Jake Freitas had 2 points and 8 rebounds. Early Contractors won 52-44.
