With high school sports coming to a halt due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Gazette is taking a look back at some memorable high school sporting events from this school year.
During this game, the Whittier Regional High girls basketball team, which had a strong year and made the playoffs, fell to Winthrop 55-39 in Div. 3 North quarterfinals.
The game was not without its high spots for Whittier, as Grace Efosa scored 13 of her team-high 17 points in the first half for the third-seeded Wildcats (a 16-5 regular season), including a four-point play and a step-back three-pointer that had the fired-up home crowd at Whittier on its feet. Sophomores Staci Krafton (14 points) and Aliyah Talley (7 points, 8 rebounds) also had solid games.
