Cheerleaders take conference title

The Haverhill High cheerleaders did it again.

The Hillies captured the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 1 title on Sunday at the conference cheer championship. They posted their highest score of the year in the competition. They now advance to the MSSAA Regional Cheer Championship at Wilmington High School on Sunday.

Wrestlers advance to N.E. Championship

The Hillie wrestling team had five wrestlers qualify and compete in the MIAA All-State Tournament on Saturday.

Jake Nicolosi led the way. The senior pulled out a thrilling one-point victory in the semi-finals, and then was edged in the finals to finish as the All-State runner-up. Ben Davoli also had a great day, finishing fourth. Those wrestlers now advance to the New England Championship.

Girls hockey team upset in first round of tourney

After finishing the regular season with an 18-0-2 record, the Haverhill-Pentucket-North Andover girls ice hockey team was upset in the first round of the MIAA state tournament.

The Hillies, seeded No. 1, fell to the No. 32 seed Hingham last week by a score of 5-4.

Boys, girls hoop teams lose in tournament

The boys basketball team was the No. 9 seed in the MIAA Division 1 North Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 14-6 record.

The Hillies fell in the first round to No. 8 Central Catholic 64-47. The girls basketball team also lost in the first round of the MIAA tournament. Chelmsford came away with the 58-36 win.

Spring sports pre-season meeting planned

There will be a spring sports pre-season meeting on March 10 at 6 p.m. at Haverhill High School for all student-athletes and at least one parent or guardian.

They will receive information about tryouts, participation requirements, rules and regulations, and other topics. Students and families are asked to complete spring sports registration prior to the meeting through

Annual Comedy night is March 13

Join us for a night of laughs as the 12th annual Haverhill High School Comedy Night on Friday, March 13, at DiBurro’s function halls.

Four top professional comedians will perform and there is a big list of raffle, silent and live auction items. All proceeds benefit the Haverhill High Athletic Program. Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at Haverhill High School or through any Hillie sports team.
