The Haverhill-Pentucket-North Andover (HPNA) girls hockey team continues its incredible run through the regular season.
The Hillies pulled out a 3-1 victory over Billerica-Chelmsford last week to remain unbeaten on the year. The team is now 13-0-2 heading into its game at Westford on Thursday afternoon.
Boys hockey team to face Lowell
The boys hockey team scored a season-high seven goals in a 7-3 win over St. Joseph’s last week.
The Hillies will travel to Lowell on Sunday.
Gynmastics team to compete Thursday
The gymnastics team finished the regular season with a 5-3 record and was runner-up in the Merrimack Valley Conference.
The team will compete in the MVC Championship meet on Thursday afternoon.
McLaughlin stars at swim and dive championship
Haverhill High School hosted the 2020 MVC Boys Swim and Dive Championship on Jan. 30 at the Charles C. White Pool.
Daniel McLaughlin led the way for the Hillies with two victories. The sophomore won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Freshman Casey Connors placed third in the 100-yard freestyle. McLaughlin, Connors, Eze-eldin Mohammed and Jacob Spreadborough will compete in the MIAA Sectionals this weekend.
Nicolosi breaks record for wrestling wins
Jake Nicolosi recently broke the school record for wrestling wins with 151 in his career.
The senior led the Hillies to a 50-30 victory over Lowell last week. The Hillie Duals will be held Saturday, with 11 teams from across the state and New Hampshire traveling to Haverhill to compete.
Basketball teams to face North Andover
Both Hillie basketball teams are still in the playoff hunt.
The girls team recently picked up a convincing 66-31 win over Lawrence to improve to 7-8 on the season. The boys team dropped a close game to Billerica to fall to 9-6. Both teams are in action Friday night against North Andover, with the boys playing at home and the girls on the road.
Track teams prep for MVC Championship
The Hillie indoor track teams participated in the MSTCA Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday.
Finleigh Simonds and Hayden Makarow led the way with fifth-place finishes in the 2-mile and 600-meter runs, respectively. The Hillies will now prepare for the 2020 MVC Championship meet to be held Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
