While the history of the program spans only seven years, the Haverhill-Pentucket-North Andover girls hockey season can be described as nothing short of historic.

The Hillies defeated Acton-Boxboro 2-0 last week to remain unbeaten. With a 15-0-2 record, the Hillies have the highest winning percentage in the state and are No. 1 in the Boston Globe state rankings. The Hillies close out the regular season at home against Masconomet on Saturday and host Andover on Wednesday.


Boys hockey team to host Dracut

The boys hockey team will play its final home game of the season Friday when it hosts Dracut.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.


Boys basketball team makes playoffs

The boys basketball team clinched a playoff berth with wins over Chelmsford and North Andover last week.

The Hillies are 11-6 overall and will close out the season with games at Dracut on Friday and at Lowell Catholic on Sunday.


Girls basketball team to host Dracut

The girls basketball team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 52-47 win over North Andover to improve to 8-9.

The Hillies have to win two of their last three games to qualify. They will be home Friday night to host Dracut.


Track teams compete at conference championship

The indoor track teams competed in the Merrimack Valley Conference Championship meet at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Friday of last week.

Hayden Makarow placed second in the 200-meter run, and Brandon Grundy was fifth in the shot put. For the girls, Finleigh Simonds was third in the mile run, Brianna Hill was fourth in the 55-meter dash, Delani Dorsey took sixth in the 1,000-meter run and Brynne Lecours finished sixth in the mile.


Eramo sets new gymnastics record

Maren Eramo placed second overall in the All-Around at the 2020 MVC Gymnastics Championship, setting a new Haverhill High record for best score in that event.

The Hillies are now hoping for a berth in the 2020 MIAA Sectional Championship meet.


Wrestling team to defend title

The wrestling team will look to defend its sectional title Saturday when the Hillies compete in the MIAA Division 1 North Sectionals.

The event will be hosted by Methuen High School. The Hillies won the event in 2019 for the first time in school history.


Swimmers to compete at state meet

Several boy swimmers represented Haverhill at the MIAA Division 1 North Sectionals at MIT on Sunday.

Daniel McLaughlin competed in two events and finished seventh in the 100-yard freestyle. Casey Connors placed 30th in that same event. Eze-eldin Mohammad and Jacob Spreadborough joined McLaughlin and Connors on the 200-yard freestyle relay team.

McLaughlin and Connors will both compete in the MIAA State Championship meet Sunday.
