The girls volleyball team took down Reading in the Division 1 North Quarterfinals on Monday night by a score of 3-1.
With the win, the Hillies improved to 18-2. Haverhill takes on Lawrence in the semi-finals at Billerica on Wednesday night.
Boys soccer team best since 2010
Both the boys and girls soccer teams concluded their 2019 seasons in the first round of the MIAA playoffs this week.
The boys team dropped a 2-0 decision to Andover, finishing the season with a 8-9-1 record for the Hillies' highest win total since 2010.
The girls team finished with a 9-8-1 mark and qualified for post-season for the 10th time in the last 12 years.
Football team earns first win of season
The football team grabbed its first win of the year on Friday night.
The Hillies came away with a convincing 47-13 win over Malden. Haverhill travels to Cambridge Ringe and Latin for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday. The Hillies are tentatively slated to return home for a Friday night game on Nov. 15.
Unified Basketball Team has final game of season
The Unified Basketball Team will play its final home game of the season Thursday afternoon.
The Hillies will host Lowell at 4 p.m., with the seniors on the team being honored before the game.
Girl swimmers, divers to compete in Sectional Meet
The girls swim and dive team had several members qualify for the 2019 MIAA Sectional Meet.
Naomi McLaughlin, Jackie Story, Erica Rask and Carli Quinlan will compete in individual swim events, while Cailey Simard and Sophia Lundgren will vie for a sectional title in the 1-meter dive. The MIAA Sectional Championship is slated for this Sunday night at Boston University.
Cheer squad in hunt for MVC title
Coming off a first place finish at the Billerica Memorial High School Fall Invitational, the cheer squad will look to capture another MVC title this Sunday at the conference championships hosted by Central Catholic.
Simonds takes first in MSTCA Meet
The Hillie cross country teams participated in the MSTCA Meet in Wrentham over the weekend.
Finleigh Simonds dominated the freshman race, winning by almost a minute. Keegan Wipff was 26th. Brynne LeCours was ninth in the sophomore race. Collin Daugherty was 21st in the boys junior race. Joe Bourcy was 31st in the boys freshman race.
Winter sports preseason meeting
There will be a winter ports preseason meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. at Haverhill High School.
This meeting is for all student-athletes planning to participate in a winter sport, and for their parents/guardians. The meeting will feature information about tryouts, participation requirements, rules and regulations, and other topics.
