Softball squad dominates opponents

The softball team went "bat crazy'' last week, as the team won three straight games.

The Hillies downed Tewksbury, Billerica and Lawrence by a combined score of 38-6. The Hillies will host North Andover on Friday at the new synthetic turf field at Haverhill High School. A ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the field. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.


Tennis teams in action Friday

The girls tennis team has won three of its last four matches.

The Hillies defeated Billerica twice and Lawrence once to improve to 4-6 overall. Haverhill will host Notre Dame on Friday at the Haverhill High School courts. The boys tennis team will also be in action on Friday, traveling to Tewskbury.


Crew teams perform in season's first event

The crew teams participated in their first event of the season over the weekend at the Amber Zapatka Memorial Regatta.

The event was held on the Merrimack River in Lowell. The girls novice team four took first place in the C Final. The girls first varsity eight was edged by Manchester Alliance in the D Final and finished second. The boys first varsity eight earned a spot in the B Final and edged Arlington Belmont in a photo finish for fourth place.


Track teams to compete Saturday

Several Hillies performed well at the 2019 Andover Boosters Track Meet.

Sean Glass won the boys 200-yard dash. Brianna Hill placed second in the same event on the girl’s side. Jayla Kitchings was third in the 100-meter hurdles and Brandon Grundy was fifth in the shot put.

The Hillie boys and girls teams will compete in the Merrimack Valley Conference Championship meet in Chelmsford on Saturday.


Boys volleyball team gets fourth win

The boys volleyball team grabbed its fourth win of the year last week, defeating Methuen 3-1.

The Hillies travel to North Andover on Friday and return home to host Lawrence on Monday.


Baseball team to host Billerica

The baseball team dropped a couple of close games last week.

The Hillies have lost five games by two runs or less. They look to get back in the win column Thursday when they host Billerica.
