The Haverhill Unified Track team finished up another great season.

The Hillies competed in the MIAA Division II State Championship meet in Milford and placed 17th overall.

Matthew Stevens placed first in his tier in the 400-meter dash. Others who placed in their events included: Marcus St. Jean (100-meter dash, second), Carlito Colon (100-meter dash, third), Darien Del Orbe (shot put, fourth) and Ryan McKeon (shot put, sixth).

The team is open to all students, with or without disabilities. Haverhill High also has a unified basketball team.

 

Softball team to face Arlington in tourney

The softball team won its final five games of the season to finish with a 12-8 mark and advance to the MIAA playoffs.

The Hillies are the No. 17 seed in the MIAA Division 1 North Tournament. Haverhill will face the No. 16 seed Arlington in the first round.

 

Baseball team takes division title

The Hillie baseball team finished strong, winning five of its last seven games.

The team captured the Pena Division title in the third annual Hillie Classic. Haverhill defeated Methuen 10-6 in the championship game.

 

Hillie runners place well at state meet

Several Hillies competed in the 2019 MIAA All-State Track Meet at Westfield State last weekend.

Jayla Kitchings placed third in the 100-meter hurdles. Sean Glass was sixth in the 200-meter dash and Hayden Makarow took seventh in the 400-meter dash.

 

Sports pre-season meeting planned

A 2019 fall sports pre-season informational meeting for those interested in playing a fall sport will be held at 6 p.m. on June 10 in the Haverhill High School auditorium.

This meeting is for all returning student-athletes, as well as incoming freshman and parents/guardians. Learn about tryouts, participation requirements, rules and regulations and other topics.
